A simple recipe for room sprays

Room sprays are one of the most underrated, yet easy to make and affordable products for home fragrancing, which we do not see many candle makers incorporate into their scented assortment.

Room sprays, also called room mists provide a solution, for freshening up any room. With a few sprays you can immediately transform the atmosphere making any home feel more welcoming and pleasant. Whether you fancy floral, citrusy or earthy scents, our handpicked selection of fragrances ensures there’s a match for every preference.

In this post we are featuring a basic recipe for creating your own Room Sprays that apart from the obvious spray into the air, they can also be safely used in any surface such as sofa covers, pillows and curtains without damaging the fabrics.

The recipe for creating Room Mists/Room Sprays is simple, though you will need to acquire 3 basic ingredients you will see down below, which are very easy to find online (we are only selling the fragrance!).

  • Fragrance: 3-5%
  • Perfumer’s alcohol >94º: 5%
  • Sodium Benzoate: 0,2%
  • Polysorbate 20: 6%
  • Purified Water: 83,8% – 85,8%

You will need an above 94 degrees pure alcohol (also known as Perfumer’s Alcohol).

The Sodium Benzoate is optional if you are going to store the end-product for more than one year. It is a preservative and prevents the formation of mold in the container.

Polysorbate 20 is an emulsifier and it helps homogenize your mixture into one cohesive clear liquid.
