Discoloration Potential: Heavy
Glühwein Fragrance Oil contains multiple high-risk discoloring components including cinnamaldehyde, eugenol, vanillin, coumarin, cinnamyl alcohol, and orange oil. These ingredients are well-known for contributing to strong ambering or browning, particularly in warm or light-exposed environments. The combined presence of phenolic materials, aldehydes, and sweet oxidation-prone compounds significantly increases discoloration risk.
- Discoloration toward amber or deep brown is highly likely with time.
- Ideal for festive, spicy, or warm-toned product lines where such changes align with the scent story.
- Avoid in clear, white, or pastel applications where color fidelity is essential.
Application Compatibility
This fragrance is oil-soluble and designed for use in oil-based and alcohol-based formulations. It does not mix directly with water-based systems without the use of an appropriate solubilizer.
Storage
Store in a cool, dark, and airtight environment to preserve stability and minimize oxidation over time.
Usage & Performance
Fragrance performance varies depending on the base, formulation, and production conditions. Cold throw, hot throw, diffusion strength, and longevity are influenced by the materials used and the manufacturing process.
A typical development process involves:
- Initial scent evaluation (10g sample)
- Small batch testing (e.g. 50g scale)
- Full-scale production once performance is validated
Testing under your specific conditions is standard practice in product development. Evaluation at each stage is required prior to scaling.

How to Read the Suitability Statements
✓ Suitable: the permitted concentration reaches or exceeds the average typical-use range. △ Limited: the permitted concentration falls within the typical-use range but remains below its midpoint. × Below Range: the permitted concentration falls below the typical-use range. × Not Permitted: the applicable limit is 0%.
Please Note
Typical-use ranges are general formulation benchmarks, not product-specific recommendations. Suitability is determined by comparing the stated typical-use range with the maximum permitted concentration shown in the current supplier IFRA document.
This guide does not confirm scent performance, base compatibility, stability, device compatibility or complete finished-product compliance. Appropriate testing and all applicable safety, labelling and regulatory requirements remain the responsibility of the finished-product manufacturer.
*Electric diffusers: Up to 100% fragrance may be used only in equipment designed for undiluted fragrance oil. Dilution, carrier and compatibility requirements vary by device. Always follow the equipment manufacturer’s instructions.
