A top note booster is an aroma material used to increase the brightness, lift and immediate impact of a fragrance. These materials are often fresh, citrusy, green, fruity or highly diffusive, helping the opening feel clearer and more expressive. Perfumers use top note boosters to energise subdued compositions, sharpen contrasts and improve the transition into the heart. They strengthen the initial impression but do not necessarily make the fragrance last longer. Careful dosing is important, as excessive amounts can make the opening feel harsh, thin or unbalanced.
