Scent Profile: Fruity/Nutty/Sweet

Please note

This is not a perfume. It is a highly concentrated fragrance oil designed for crafting end products such as candles, diffusers, perfumes, soaps, and other personal care items. Do not apply directly to the skin. All our fragrance oils are measured in grams, not milliliters. Bottle fill levels may vary due to differences in oil density, which affects volume.

This material is supplied as a raw ingredient. Full compositional and allergen information is provided in the SDS and Allergen Declaration documents found in the “Related Documents” tab. Compliance of the final product remains the responsibility of the manufacturer.

Behavioral Profile

  • Diffusion: Medium, focused and direct
  • Texture: Smooth, slightly syrupy with a dry-nutty edge
  • Opening Impression: Immediate almond-cherry burst with sharp definition
  • Structure: Single-core dominant with minimal layering
  • Character: Bold, linear, and addictive with a boozy, persistent finish

Bitter Almond Fragrance Oil is a core-driven gourmand composition built around a dominant aromatic material that defines its entire character. The almond accord is constructed primarily through aldehydic components, creating a sharp and immediately recognizable profile, while sweet modifiers introduce balance and smoothness. Minimal supporting materials allow the composition to remain focused and linear, without unnecessary complexity. The result is a bold and distinctive fragrance with a clear identity and a clean, long-lasting presence.

Discoloration potential: Moderate

Benzaldehyde, the main component in Bitter Almond Fragrance Oil, is prone to oxidative discoloration over time, especially when exposed to light and air. Additional terpenes and phenolics further raise the risk in reactive bases like soap.

  • Discoloration is likely, typically showing as amber to reddish tones over time.
  • In soaps, oxidation may be accelerated by high pH, especially in cold process applications.
  • Best suited for warm-toned or naturally colored products where darkening is acceptable.

Application Compatibility

This fragrance is oil-soluble and designed for use in oil-based and alcohol-based formulations. It does not mix directly with water-based systems without the use of an appropriate solubilizer.

Storage

Store in a cool, dark, and airtight environment to preserve stability and minimize oxidation over time.

Usage & Performance

Fragrance performance varies depending on the base, formulation, and production conditions. Cold throw, hot throw, diffusion strength, and longevity are influenced by the materials used and the manufacturing process.

A typical development process involves:

  • Initial scent evaluation (10g sample)
  • Small batch testing (e.g. 50g scale)
  • Full-scale production once performance is validated

Testing under your specific conditions is standard practice in product development. Evaluation at each stage is required prior to scaling.

Recommended usage guidelines

  • Candles: 7%-12%
  • Reed diffusers: 15%-25%
  • Personal perfumes: 10%-15%
  • Soaps: 1%-3%

These ranges reflect typical formulation practices and are provided for general guidance only. They do not represent maximum permitted levels.

This smells exactly like the bitter almond liqueur that’s typical of my country. If you don’t know what this is, it’s fine. Just picture almonds soaked in alcohol with just a slight sweetness to it, and you’ll get the gist of it.

Soy wax, 6% fragrance load. A very rich and intense scent. Almond is dominant, with a slight hint of cherry in the background. A pleasant aroma — exactly like Amaretto.
