Please note
This is a pure, undiluted essential oil designed for crafting end products such as candles, diffusers, soaps, bath products, and other personal care items. Essential oils are highly concentrated and should not be applied directly to the skin without proper dilution in a carrier oil. All our essential oils are measured in grams, not milliliters. Bottle fill levels may vary due to differences in oil density, which affects volume.
For specific usage limits, please refer to the Mandarine Essential Oil IFRA guidelines or consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) included in the “Related Documents” tab. Compliance of the final product remains the responsibility of the manufacturer.

Olfactive Profile
- Note classification: Top note
- Scent family: Citrus / Fruity / Sweet / Fresh
Mandarine Essential Oil has a sweet, soft, and juicy citrus profile with fresh peel, fruity, slightly floral, and gently green nuances. It feels sweeter and rounder than lemon, softer than orange, and less bitter than grapefruit. Its character is cheerful, bright, and comforting, making it especially useful in citrus, fruity, floral, cozy, children’s-style, spa, and uplifting compositions.
The opening is fresh, juicy, and sparkling, while the drydown becomes softer, sweeter, and lightly peel-like. Compared to sharper citrus oils, mandarine brings a gentler and more approachable freshness, making it valuable when a formula needs brightness without harshness, sweetness without heaviness, and a sunny citrus effect that feels warm and inviting.

Formulation & Creative Uses
Mandarine Essential Oil works as a soft fruity-citrus top note. It adds sweetness, brightness, freshness, and a cheerful sparkling effect to a formula, helping heavier, woody, floral, resinous, herbal, or musky compositions feel more open and approachable. It is especially useful when a blend needs a gentle citrus lift rather than the sharper freshness of lemon, lime, or grapefruit.
Common applications
- Diffusers: Excellent for cheerful, fruity, uplifting, cozy, citrus, family-friendly, and soft spa blends.
- Candles & wax melts: Adds sweet citrus brightness, especially in sunny home fragrance, fruity citrus, orange blossom, vanilla citrus, festive, and cozy compositions.
- Soaps: Brings a fresh, sweet citrus-peel character, with testing required for scent retention and process stability.
- Bath & body products: Suitable when used within IFRA limits and proper dilution guidelines.
- Perfumery: Useful in soft citrus accords, fruity florals, orange blossom structures, gourmand citrus blends, clean musks, colognes, and gentle aromatic compositions.
Creative directions
Use Mandarine Essential Oil when a formula needs a soft, sweet, and cheerful citrus opening. It works especially well in blends that feel too sharp, dry, herbal, serious, woody, or heavy, helping the composition become warmer, brighter, and more inviting from the first impression.
For uplifting diffuser blends, combine mandarine with bergamot, lavender, sweet orange, lemon, neroli, or petitgrain to create a sunny citrus-floral effect. For cozy and comforting directions, use it with vanilla-like materials, benzoin, tonka-style notes, cedarwood, amyris, or soft musks to build a gentle citrus warmth. For fresh botanical compositions, pair it with rosemary, basil, clary sage, spearmint, or light woods to balance sweetness with a cleaner aromatic edge.
Mandarine is also useful in fruity florals, children’s-style soft citrus blends, festive orange-spice compositions, spa citrus formulas, and light gourmand structures. Because it is a volatile citrus top note, it gives a beautiful opening but may fade in heat or high-pH systems. It performs best when supported by longer-lasting woods, musks, resins, soft florals, or other citrus materials that help extend the bright fruity impression.
Storage & Natural Variations
Mandarine Essential Oil is classified as flammable, irritating to the skin, sensitising, hazardous if swallowed and enters the airways, and toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects. As this is a cold-pressed citrus oil, phototoxicity may need to be considered for leave-on skin applications exposed to sunlight or UV light, depending on the final formulation and applicable IFRA guidance. Always follow the IFRA guidance and SDS for the intended product category. The final safety assessment, dilution level, labeling, and regulatory compliance remain the responsibility of the manufacturer.
Essential oils are natural aromatic materials, and slight variations in scent, colour, density, and appearance may occur from batch to batch. These differences are normal and can be influenced by harvest conditions, climate, origin, plant material, and natural compositional variation.
Scent perception may also vary depending on individual sensitivity, dilution level, formulation base, and application method. Essential oils may not smell exactly the same in the bottle as they do in a finished product. We strongly recommend testing a 10g bottle before committing to larger quantities, especially for commercial production.
To preserve quality, store tightly sealed in the original container, away from heat, light, air, and moisture. Citrus essential oils are oxidation-sensitive, and prolonged exposure to air or improper storage may affect aroma, performance, and skin-sensitization potential over time. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, keep away from ignition sources, and avoid release into drains, surface water, or the environment.

Product Guidance & FAQs
How can I use this essential oil and at what concentration?
The appropriate concentration depends on the essential oil, intended application and complete finished formulation. Refer to the Product Suitability Guide and applicable technical documentation for the relevant limits, and always test at the intended concentration before production.
Does this essential oil contain allergens?
Essential oils are naturally complex mixtures and may contain naturally occurring fragrance allergens such as limonene, linalool, citral or geraniol, depending on the botanical material. Relevant constituents and hazard information are disclosed in the product documentation where applicable.
Are essential oils naturally variable?
Yes. As botanical materials, essential oils can show normal variations in colour, odour and constituent profile between batches, harvests and origins. Such variation does not necessarily indicate a difference in quality or authenticity.
Can I apply this essential oil directly to my skin?
Essential oils are concentrated aromatic raw materials and should not be assumed suitable for undiluted skin application. Any use in a finished cosmetic or personal-care formulation must take account of the specific oil, concentration, applicable restrictions and complete formulation.
Should I test the essential oil in my own formulation?
Yes. Solubility, stability, scent profile and performance can vary considerably between bases and applications. Small-scale testing in the actual formulation is recommended before production.
