Purple Iris Fragrance Oil contains several floral aldehydes, terpene derivatives, and natural oils that may gradually yellow or warm in tone, especially in soap or exposed wax.
- Expect gradual yellowing, particularly in soaps, white wax, or clear personal care products over time.
- Works well in pastel or creamy floral-themed products where slight tone deepening won’t clash with design.
- Less ideal for ultra-clear or snow-white products unless discoloration is stabilized.
Application Compatibility
This fragrance is oil-soluble and designed for use in oil-based and alcohol-based formulations. It does not mix directly with water-based systems without the use of an appropriate solubilizer.

Ah, Iris! It’s like a box of chocolates … you never know what you are going to get! Sometimes it’s an overwhelming powder bomb, sometimes more like a stand-up men’s cologne, sometimes sweet, sometimes chilly, or carroty or more floral … it can be clean or musty, screechy, or a dreamy, gorgeous vintage scent. I’m always ready to be surprised! This strikes more of a “lavender”-type accord for me. It doesn’t smell like lavender, but it is a more masculine-leaning, sharpish scent which isn’t what I was really hoping for (for perfume blend for me), but I’m thinking of mixing with Guaic Forest, some musk, and maybe … bergamot and a little rose? for my husband. Or maybe amp up the violet and jasmine, and add some vanilla for me. Not sure yet, but it will be interesting to experiment with!
