Sea Salt and Sage Fragrance Oil
Sea Salt and Sage Fragrance Oil is an intricate coastal scent where top notes of bergamot, grapefruit and crushed peppercorns are knit around an aquatic middle accord of jasmine, sage and orris, supported by a smooth and breezy base of white musk, amber and cedarwood.
- Top notes: Bergamot, grapefruit, black pepper
- Heart notes: Seaweed, sage, oakmoss
- Base notes: White musk, amber, cedarwood
Scent Profile: Woody/Marine/Fresh
Please note
This is not a perfume. It is a highly concentrated fragrance oil designed for crafting end products such as candles, diffusers, perfumes, soaps, and other personal care items. Do not apply directly to the skin. All our fragrance oils are measured in grams, not milliliters. Bottle fill levels may vary due to differences in oil density, which affects volume.
This material is supplied as a raw ingredient. Full compositional and allergen information is provided in the SDS and Allergen Declaration documents found in the “Related Documents” tab. Compliance of the final product remains the responsibility of the manufacturer.
Behavioral Profile
- Diffusion: High (Iso E Super + ambers)
- Texture: Smooth, non-metallic, slightly creamy marine
- Freshness type: Aromatic-citrus, not ozonic sharp
- Structure: Base-driven (not top-heavy)
- Character: “Skin scent” marine rather than “ocean blast”
Sea Salt and Sage Fragrance Oil is a base-driven composition structured around Iso E Super and modern amber materials, delivering high diffusion and a smooth, continuous scent profile. The marine character is achieved through ambroxan-style salinity and mineral woody facets rather than sharp ozonic notes, while aromatic terpenes provide lift without dominating the structure. The result is a clean, stable, and highly diffusive marine accord with a soft, skin-like finish.

Discoloration Potential: Light
Despite a strong stable backbone, the presence of Limonene and a few aromatic aldehydes and terpenes introduces a small but realistic chance of yellowing or ambering over time with light/air exposure.
- Likely to remain visually stable for several months, but slight yellowing can appear, especially in clear bases or soaps.
- Cold process soaps and white waxes may show a light tan/yellowing over time.
- Use antioxidants and light-protected packaging for improved long-term clarity.
Application Compatibility
This fragrance is oil-soluble and designed for use in oil-based and alcohol-based formulations. It does not mix directly with water-based systems without the use of an appropriate solubilizer.
Storage
Store in a cool, dark, and airtight environment to preserve stability and minimize oxidation over time.
Usage & Performance
Fragrance performance varies depending on the base, formulation, and production conditions. Cold throw, hot throw, diffusion strength, and longevity are influenced by the materials used and the manufacturing process.
A typical development process involves:
- Initial scent evaluation (10g sample)
- Small batch testing (e.g. 50g scale)
- Full-scale production once performance is validated
Testing under your specific conditions is standard practice in product development. Evaluation at each stage is required prior to scaling.
Recommended usage guidelines
- Candles: 7%-12%
- Reed diffusers: 15%-25%
- Personal perfumes: 10%-15%
- Soaps: 1%-3%
These ranges reflect typical formulation practices and are provided for general guidance only. They do not represent maximum permitted levels.

Fresh crisp and refreshing fragrance. Does accelerate in cold process soap. Perfect for simple designs. Behaves beautifully in hot process or melt and pour soaps. New personal favorite!

Sadly causes accelleration in cold process soap which makes it unsuitable for this method at least for me (plus discolours to a light brown).
Beautiful scent though, for other products

Amazing scent!!

Love this scent for summer. I use it for cold process soap and while it does accelerate it a bit, it is still manageable to do quick swirls. Do not discolor white soap. I only use kaolin clay for white soap and it stays white with this fragrance.

Very summery scent. I love it!

If this is the sort of thing you like, you’ll really like this, and I am in love. A beautifully blended, elegant, fresh but refined slightly marine floral, light and airy. I made it up as a perfume oil, and cannot stop sniffing. It stays very close to the skin and intimate on me, more feminine than masculine, I’d say, but absolutely can be unisex (smells great on my husband! A lovely, clean scent). I do not get a “salty” or “seaweed” note, which is fine with me, but something in this is a little magical … maybe this is what the mermaids wear — a softly tantalizing reminder of garden, orchard and wood wafted by sea air.

Beautiful scent! If you are looking for a marine fragrance that is different than standard ones, this might be it. It is discrete, I can almost smell the salty water. It is a bit weaker scent, so you might need to adjust the fragrance load. Blends well with soy wax.

At first you can clearly smell the ocean notes with a bit of tingly, salty scent. When you smell closer, you note the hints of sage and the other green notes. When I first ordered it, I didn’t think it wouldn’t be that great. But it really became one of my favorite scents here due to his soft, yet unique combination. Used 10% in candles and loved it.
