Amber molecules are aroma chemicals that add warmth, depth and lasting structure to a fragrance. Depending on the material, they can smell smooth and enveloping, dry and woody, mineral, radiant or subtly musky. Perfumers use amber molecules to strengthen the base, improve diffusion and connect woody, spicy, floral and musky notes. They can support an existing amber accord or provide a modern amber effect without recreating the sweet, resinous character of traditional labdanum and vanilla accords. Each molecule behaves differently, so starting at a low dose and evaluating it gradually is essential.
