Benzyl Benzoate should be stored tightly sealed in its original container, at a maximum of 25°C, away from prolonged exposure to light, heat, and air. It is supplied as a colourless liquid, so no pre-warming or pre-dilution is normally required before use. The supplier gives a shelf life of 12 months under correct storage conditions, so keeping the container well closed and avoiding repeated air exposure is important. Its discoloration potential is considered low to moderate: the material is colourless, but balsamic ester materials may gradually shift in odour or colour with heat, oxidation, and long storage. Testing is recommended in white waxes, clear bases, pale soaps, and pastel formulations.
