Please note
This is a pure, undiluted essential oil designed for crafting end products such as candles, diffusers, soaps, bath products, and other personal care items. Essential oils are highly concentrated and should not be applied directly to the skin without proper dilution in a carrier oil. All our essential oils are measured in grams, not milliliters. Bottle fill levels may vary due to differences in oil density, which affects volume.
For specific usage limits, please refer to the Lemon Essential Oil IFRA guidelines or consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) included in the “Related Documents” tab. Compliance of the final product remains the responsibility of the manufacturer.

Olfactive Profile
- Note classification: Top note
- Scent family: Citrus / Fresh / Zesty / Clean
Lemon Essential Oil has a bright, sharp, and immediately recognisable citrus profile with fresh peel, juicy, green, and slightly bitter nuances. It feels sharper and more sparkling than orange, cleaner and more direct than bergamot, and less bitter than grapefruit. Its character is energetic, clean, and highly uplifting, making it especially useful in fresh, citrus, herbal, cleaning, spa, and bright botanical compositions.
The opening is vivid, zesty, and sparkling, while the drydown becomes lighter, softer, and slightly peel-like. Compared to more rounded citrus oils, lemon brings a cleaner and more vertical freshness, making it valuable when a formula needs instant brightness, a crisp top-note effect, or a clear fresh-clean signature.

Formulation & Creative Uses
Lemon Essential Oil works as a bright citrus top note. It adds freshness, lift, clarity, and a clean zesty sparkle to a formula, helping heavier, sweeter, herbal, woody, resinous, or musky compositions feel more open and energetic. It is especially useful when a blend needs a crisp first impression, a clean citrus signature, or a more refreshing botanical opening.
Common applications
- Diffusers: Excellent for bright, clean, energizing, citrus, kitchen-fresh, herbal, and refreshing blends.
- Candles & wax melts: Adds vivid citrus brightness, especially in clean home, summer, spa, citrus-herbal, tea, and fresh kitchen-inspired compositions.
- Soaps: Brings a fresh lemon-peel character, with testing required for scent retention and process stability.
- Bath & body products: Suitable when used within IFRA limits and proper dilution guidelines.
- Perfumery: Useful in citrus colognes, fresh florals, green tea accords, clean musks, herbal blends, light woods, and bright aromatic structures.
Creative directions
Use Lemon Essential Oil when a formula needs sparkle, clarity, and an instantly fresh citrus opening. It works especially well in blends that feel too heavy, sweet, dull, resinous, herbal, or closed, helping the composition become brighter, cleaner, and more energetic from the first impression.
For fresh diffuser and home fragrance blends, combine lemon with eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary, lavender, basil, or spearmint to create a crisp clean-air effect. For citrus-floral directions, use it with bergamot, neroli, geranium, lavender, or ylang ylang to add a brighter and more sparkling opening. For clean woody or spa-style blends, pair it with cedarwood, amyris, frankincense, patchouli, or soft musks to balance freshness with depth.
Lemon is also useful in tea-inspired, herbal, kitchen-fresh, summer citrus, green, and clean linen compositions. Because it is a volatile citrus top note, it gives excellent impact at the opening but can fade quickly in heat or high-pH systems. It performs best when supported by longer-lasting citrus, herbal, woody, musky, or resinous materials that help extend the fresh impression into the body of the formula.
Storage & Natural Variations
Lemon Essential Oil is classified as flammable, irritating to the skin, sensitising, hazardous if swallowed and enters the airways, and toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects. As this is a cold-pressed citrus oil, phototoxicity must be considered for leave-on skin applications exposed to sunlight or UV light. Always follow the IFRA guidance and SDS for the intended product category. The final safety assessment, dilution level, labeling, and regulatory compliance remain the responsibility of the manufacturer.
Essential oils are natural aromatic materials, and slight variations in scent, colour, density, and appearance may occur from batch to batch. These differences are normal and can be influenced by harvest conditions, climate, origin, plant material, and natural compositional variation.
Scent perception may also vary depending on individual sensitivity, dilution level, formulation base, and application method. Essential oils may not smell exactly the same in the bottle as they do in a finished product. We strongly recommend testing a 10g bottle before committing to larger quantities, especially for commercial production.
To preserve quality, store tightly sealed in the original container, away from heat, light, air, and moisture. Citrus essential oils are oxidation-sensitive, and prolonged exposure to air or improper storage may affect aroma, performance, and skin-sensitization potential over time. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, keep away from ignition sources, and avoid release into drains, surface water, or the environment.
